The computer has already become an indispensable tool in modern society. With the informatization and digitalization of Chinese characters, the computer's Chinese database will extend further. If the norms concerning Chinese characters in the computer database are not correctly established, there will be hidden trouble in the future language use. In the current linguistic research, people pay most attention to the study on basic theories of Chinese characters, and the study of Chinese information processing is still at the beginning stage. As the Chinese coded character set with the highest diffusion rate in the field of Chinese information processing, a study on the attributes of Chinese characters in GB13000.1-93 Information Technology General Octet Coded Character Set has important practical and theoretical implications.GB13000 is a transition code norm from the GB2312-80 to the ISO 10646.1. It includes 20902 characters, including unsimplified Chinese characters, simplified Chinese characters, Korean characters and Japanese characters. In the meantime, it can provide some opinions and data for national standard that is developing. It can also provide certain foundation material for the enlargement of computer character database, the complex-simple form transformation of the Chinese characters and the Chinese information processing.Guided by the formation theory of Chinese character proposed by Wang Ning, combining the existing research result, this research approves the variant forms of a Chinese character in the GB13000, and a research on other attributes of Chinese characters will be launched.
