The Study On Variant Forms Of Chinese Characters In Yuansheng Yunxue Dacheng

As a rhyme dictionary in Ming dynasty,Yuansheng Yunxue Dacheng(《元声韵学大成》)records the changing of speech sound in spoken language.In the past,the researches mainly concerned the speech sound in the dictionary.But it is also worthy to study the variant forms of Chinese characters in it.The paper mainly studies all of the variant forms of Chinese characters in it,and make a classification of the Chinese characters in the dictionary according to the theory about“Yixiezi”(异写字)and“Yigouzi”(异构字)presented by Professor Wang Ning.Besides that,the paper will make a primary analysis about them.Through analyzing the variant forms of Chinese characters of the book,the author found that there are some mew variant forms of Chinese character in Yuansheng Yunxue Dacheng(《元声韵学大成》).On the one hand,it is because of the changing of speech sound,on the other hand,it is related to writing habits and the needs of express the meaning of the words.Although this may be influenced by social words at that time,there are some mistakes in the communication with the variant forms of Chinese characters.The paper could provides references for the study of Chinese characters and the discussion about the law in the changing of Chinese characters. It could also provides references for the compilation and edition of large dictionaries.
