Higher professional technical education is the new matter of higher education in our country. It is the starting and exploration stage of cultivate aim, schooling type and school building and so on. There must be many imperfect things in the process of schooling. These conditions inevitably bring much psychological problem and perplexity to higher vocational students. At the same time, adolescence is the key jumpy period in physiology and psychology. Collegian is just the hebetic auxetic anaphase. They often know some negative emotion. Collegian are high-occoured group of psychological obstruction, some studies showed that 10%-30% of collegian had psychological problem. Healthy mental status is not only the necessary condition of collegian carrying out lasting development, but also objective requirement of contemporary society to human qulity. And some studies indicated mental problem of doctor and nurse mostly originate with nervous stress at the step of medical education. So medical students are special colony, on one hand they stand pressure of study and employment;on the other hand they will undertake heavy task of healing the wounded and rescuing the dying。 Whereas well mental health not only profitthemselves health, but also profit patients. Therefore, this study is to investigate mental health status and relevant factors of higher vocational medical freshmen, and to discovery mental problem early and provide psychohygiene care service early, and to offer evidence for establishing the files of psychological health and taking the measure of mental health in the future.Methods470 junior college freshmen of medical School in JinHua college of Profession and Technology using stratified sampling and clustered sampling.The measures include SCL-90, EPQ , simplified coping style questionnaire and life events scale for undergraduates. Symptom Check List-90(SCL-90) is made by Derogatis, L.R, it includes 90 items altogether, each item adopts 1-5 grades scoring for evaluating students having or no symptom and heavy level. It includes 10 factors, which are somatization, compulsion n sociality, depression % anxiety > antagonism, horror, intolerance, psychosis and others. We evaluate mental health status of students with frontal 9 factors score and average scores. Eysenck Personality Questionaire(EPQ) is made by professor Chen Zhonggeng, it includes 85 heads divided four measuring scales, 21 heads: inside and outside tropism E;24 heads: sentiment stability N;20 heads: spirit character P;20 heads: degree of glossing up L. The personality was assessed with four dimension degrees. Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ) is made by scholar xie yaning, it is concluded of positive coping style and passive coping style. It includes 20 heads. Life events scale for undergraduates is concluded of 27 negative life events. The common items investigated mainly were sex, speciality, sources of students.The method of data acquisition is bound tome with above-described investigation questionnaire. At the same time it is handed out students in class, surveyors tell the way of filling out with neutral speech, and the students do not discuss and finish voluntarily by themselves independently, the questionnaire is not by name. The data were entering counter after checking one by one .The data were analyzed bySPSS 13.0 for windows.ResultsThe factor scores of compulsion symptom > anxiety, horror and psychosis of higher vocational medical freshman were all obviously higher than those of norm(/K0.01) . but all factor scores were lower than college student norm (/?<0.01) .If any factor score ^3 of nine factors is relevance standard, relevance ratio of mental problem is 5. 8%. Most of them were sociality, others are compulsion and depression 0 The factor scores of anxiety and horror of female students were higher those of male students. The factor scores of the students from the high middle school are higher than the students from vocational high middle schools, all factor scores of the students from the high middle school were higher than those of the students from vocational high middle schools, and in the aspects of somatization, compulsion > sociality, depression, anxiety, antagonisrm psychosis and total average score there be the statistics significance . Other factors of different profession students exist the statistic significance except of horror. There didn't exist the statistic significance between the students come from towns and those in countryside. The factors E^ P, L of personality of higher vocational medical freshman were all obviously higher than those of norm(p<0.01 )oThe factors P, L of female students were obviously higher than those male students (/?<0.01) . The factor sociality and depression and horror of SCL-90 were negatively related to EPQ-E;the factors antagonism and intolerance and psychosis of SCL-90 were positively related to EPQ-P;the factors antagonism and psychosis of SCL-90 were negatively related to EPQ-Lo Total average score and each factor score of SCL-90 were positively related to EPQ-N, passive coping style, negative life events (p<0.0\) . Stepwise regression analysis showed that passive coping styles, negative life events , EPQ-N entered the regression equation. Path analysis showed the direct reason leading to mental problem was EPQ-N, the direct and indirect reason were passive coping styles and negative life events.ConclusionsThe mental health status of higher vocational medical freshman exits the gap with that of norm, there are compulsion ^ anxiety > horror and psychosis;whereas compares with college student norm, The mental problem of higher vocational medical freshman less or lighter than common collegian. The factor scores of anxiety and horror of female students were higher than those of male students. And the psychological status of the students from vocational middle high school is better than the students from middle high school. There didn't exist the statistic significance between the students come from towns and those in countryside. On personality, higher vocational medical freshmen totally good active exocathection mild and mature. Emotion stability(EPQ-N), passive coping style, negative life events impact on mental health, the direct reason leading to mental problem was EPQ-N, the direct and indirect reason were passive coping styles and negative life events. Therefore, on the new matter of higher professional technical education, its education and mode of supervision need unceasingly exploration and perfection;on the special group of higher vocational students, made corresponding education to them, and enhance students mental health from mind and coping styles.
