The direction of word stem completion tests doesn't only refer to experimental contentbut also require recollection. If subjects were affected by information that learned before, inother words, if word stem completion test become easier for subjects because of the priorstudy task, that suggests implicit memory play a role in the tests. Implicit memory refers toautomaticity for current activity, in contrast, explicit memory refers to recollection. They bothaim at mental experience when picking up information. The present study, supposing thatcombining word stem completion test with process dissociation procedure will better examinethat the frequency of Chinese characters and attention level's influence in both Implicitmemory and explicit memory. The result of preparative experiment is difficult to tell whicheffect play role in word stem completion tests, showing ceiling effect. The result of trueexperiment apart the contribution of recollection and automaticity after improving theexperimental procedure, recollection play more important role in the tests than automaticity. The present study, using not only traditional pattern------the performance of inclusion test (I)= recollection(R)+ automaticity(A)-common function(R∩A)and the performance ofexclusion tes(tE)= automaticity(A)-common function(R∩A)—— examine the magnitudeof contribution of recollection and automaticity, but also analyse the performance thatsubjects acquire in word stem completion task. The results showed that frequency of Chinesecharacters and attentional level play different role in inclusion test, but have little influence inexclusion test.
