The Study On The Inverted Causative Sentence Of Modern Chinese

The inverted causative sentence mainly refers to the special causative sentence, which uses movement object as the causative person and the movement subject as passive person. It is a kind of causative meaning sentence, which changes modern Chinese basic word order "S+V+O" to the mark able causative sentence. This article bases on the foundation of the predecessor's research, by the instruction of the "three dimensional grammar" theory and method. Attempt to discuss this special causative sentence ----the syntax, semantics and pragmatics features of inverted causative sentence.The first part explains the category and the semantic characteristic of inverted causative sentence. The inverted causative sentence can be divided into "v+le type" and "v+de type" two minor sorts, its semantic role has causative person, passive person, causative strength and causative result four kinds.The second part analyzes the syntax structure of inverted causative sentence. We put more words on the elements of sentence result. The sentence result elements of"v +le type"inverted causative sentence use time-quantity phrase, the momentum phrase and the quantity phrases containing all around significance. The sentence result element of"v+de type"inverted causative sentence is the complex subject-predicate structure.The third part analyzes the sentence semantics of the inverted causative sentence. The main predicate verb of the inverted causative sentence is not in the general causative verb, its causative meaning is provided by the whole sentence pattern. In the specific discourse, the inverted causative sentence is actually "the information string" which is coagulated by at least two events. Its semantics may summarize as: Because of A, B cannot help doing some actions. Even the verb of the sentence is independent verb; the whole sentence also presents the non- independent characteristics.The fourth part gives the pragmatics analysis on inverted causative sentence. Because of the result elements, the frequency of "v+de type" inverted causative sentence is higher than the "v+le type" inverted causative sentence. At the same time, the inverted causative sentence also has the function of defining the topic.
