At the dawn of the third millennium, the market of television enters a great new era. On the contrary, the development of the domestic TV documentary program market, which is not well established and perfectly developed, falls behind it. Based on this, the thesis analyzes the current situation of the domestic TV documentary program market and the major problems and draw backs of it, with the beginning of the demonstration of the theoretical definition and the history of documentary. It shows that the development of the market does not depend on the improvement of the TV documentary program execution model only, but finding and using the potential market efBdently plays a much more significant role, considering the demands of the increasingly tough competitive environment we faced.The thesis focus on the international successful cases of documentary market, and analyzes the difference in the field of documentary execution model and the concept of documentary marketing between it and the domestic market. A number of useful experiences we can utilize are shown after the analysis. At the same time, the thesis recommends the ways to put these experiences into practice by researching the indeed requirements of the domestic market.
