On The Characterization Of Jin Zi And The Singing Techniques In The Opera Savage Land

This thesis tries to analyze the characterization in the soprano section of Jin Zi, the feminine lead in the opera Savage Land, and the singing techniques employed in some arias of the same opera.In terms of characterization, the paper focuses on the analysis of the complex personality, the psychological development of the distorted human nature, and the eccentric interpersonal relationship, of the heroine Jin Zi. It also probes into the role played by Jin Zi throughout the work.With regard to the singing techniques, the author draws inferences after analyzing the role and singing techniques of the heroine by taking arias "Oh, the sky grows dark" , "Oh! My dear Hu Zi" , and "Take the whip to me" as examples on the ground of Jin Zi's yearning for freedom, her pursuit of true love and her struggle against the fate respectively.
