This paper studies Feng Menglong's cultural personality from the point of view of his literary activities, association and social activities and political activities, and, based on the investigation of the social background of the formation of Feng Menglong's cultural personality, discusses Feng Menglong's cultural behaviors, seeking to basically determine his cultural role and cultural position, and further discusses Feng Menglong's contradictory attitude swinging between passion and rationality and his cultural personality of "Jin people's demeanor and Han people's kindness".In the late Ming period when the publication industry was unprecedentedly prosperous, Feng Menglong had, with his open-mindedness and great courage against assaulting, used an almost modern editing method and edited and published a great amount of popular literary works, essays and Confucian Classics, which exhibited his independent personality. His theory of passion was both a new power of bold rebellion and filled with decay of moral teaching at the same time. Feng Menglong had been associated with a variety of people, including artistically-trained prostitutes, unfettered literary talents, honest and straightforward celebrities and officials, and poor and unfortunate intelligentsia, who either had similar life experience as his own, or shared some common interest with him, or had mutual admiration of each other's literary achievements or were attracted to each other's personality charm, who had deeply influenced Feng Menglong in his dealing with people and dealing with knowledge.Feng Menglong lived in the unstable late Ming period.
