This thesis is intended to make a tentative study on Zha Liangzheng's poetry translation from the perspective of the translator's subjectivity. The author tries to investigate the role of the translator's subjectivity in the process of translation by analyzing the personal subjective factors — particularly the translator's aesthetic tendency, translation motivation, translation purpose, translation principles so as to find out how these factors influence his choice of the source texts and his translation works.This thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter One is an introduction of the research background, research questions, research methodology and significance of this thesis. Chapter Two briefly generalizes the translation theory works which provides theoretical basis for this thesis and introduces the artistic characteristics of Zha Liangzheng's translation of Don Juan and The Waste Land. Chapter Three analyzes relative translation theories, namely hermeneutics, Skopos Theory and Poly-system Theory, which contribute to the establishment of the translator's subjectivity. Chapter Four studies Zha Liangzheng's selection for translation, that is to say, whose literary works and which literary works he chose to translate, revealing how the social and cultural background influences the translator's selection and how the translator displays his/her subjectivity under a certain social background.
