The problem of military reward has been a long time. It has been recorded in the earliest documents such as Book of History and the inscriptions in bronze wares in Shang and Zhou Dynasty and so on. This thesis regards military rewards as research institute. Great changes have taken place in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Period of Warring States, Warfare is turning into the theme of the times. Wars are happening with increasing frequency and the situations are sophisticated. Dukes or princes under an emperor attach the most importance to the functions of military rewards. At that time, military rewards present more and more abundant meanings and strong characters of times.This thesis is divided into five parts to discuss the military reward system in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Period of Warring States.In the first part, the standards of the military reward is discussed, that is to say, which circumstances in military affairs will be rewarded. One of the most important and universal standard is win the victory over the enemy, which is suit to any period. Owing to the influence of the code of etiquette in West-Zhou Dynasty ,the standard respect and protect the monarch and help to set up prestige moral and integrity will be rewarded is popular in the earlier stage of the Spring and Autumn Period. From then on until the Period of Warring States, in the wake of the escalation of the wars and the more and more flexible strategy and tactics, the standard of the military reward is becoming more and more diversified and systematic.
