As a major agricultural country, China's rural stability acts as the foundation of social stability since 80% of China's population lives in rural areas. Performing the basic functions of social "safety valve" and "shock absorber", it is explicit that the social security system is particularly vital in rural areas Especially in recent years, the unique status of "three agricultural problems" render rural social security issues into the places of both theoretical study and reform practice. Taking these into consideration, China's rural social security system should be improved to attract more attention. The paper attempts to show the historical feature of the rural social security system in the 1950s and 1960s based on social history. By virtue of knowledge from sociology and politics a detailed study has been made of the features of particular systems, experiences and lessons learned and advantages and disadvantages. In this way we hope to present some profitable suggestions to the new rural social security work.Still in the early stage of exploration and establishment, China's rural social security system was imperfect and immature. In the 1950s and 1960s, it mainly consist of social grant, social assistance, social welfare (mainly referring to the medical cooperation), etc. of course rural insurance is also introduced for a time in some places, but it is not very influential because of the limited time and small coverage.Social solace to family of a revolutionary soldier or a martyr militiamen refers to a special social project, where our country and the society, based on the law, give material care and spiritual comfort to solace members with servicemen and their families as the main bodies. It is an important component of our social security system and also symbolizes a getaway. in the 1950s and 1960s valuable exploration has been made of the preferential treatment compensation and comfort work in the countryside and great results have been achieved. Despite the drawbacks in the specific realization in various areas its social influence and role is enormous. The project of preferential treatment compensation and comfort have made the civil-military relations more close and promoted political stability and economic development. It helps with reference to the consolidation of the defense and the creation of a good social order.In the 1950s and 1960s, frequent natural disasters caused great difficulties to new China. Both the central and local governments attached great importance to the basic living conditions of the victims. Each year the state has invested large quantities of supplies and funds to address such problems as meals, clothing, shelter and medical treatment for the victims. Of course relief is a complex systematic enterprise, which involves various aspects of socio-economic life and need close coordination from every aspects. Owing to our economic strength and a series of political movements, relief work is bound to have some drawbacks, but generally, it should be affirmed.After the founding of China, the Chinese Communist Party and the people's government had to confront the large number of poor and starving peasants and the extremely heavy social relief mission left by old society and attached great importance to rural poverty relief work. Through such strategies as the issuance of alms, the deration of agricultural taxes, and collective subsidies, the authority has spent large quantities of relief supplies...
