Numerous Han immigrants flourished into Taomin area of Gansu during the Ming and Qing dynasties, which play a significant role in the development of Han people in Taomin area. The settlements and assimilation of Han people changed not only the local ethnic composition but also their own culture. Due to the ethnical interactive contact, the understanding of the identity of each other has been strengthened, therefore the mixing of Han immigrants and local people lead to a cultural diversity in the region of Taomin.Based on the development and the evolution of Han immigrants in Taomin area, this paper made full use of historical documents, applied the method of explaining and analyzing, drew lessons from the method of ethnology on-the-spot investigation, and unified demography as well as the folklore theory to study Han immigrant's migration process and the cultural changes with the society transformation, at the basis of absorbing in former research. Further more, the paper also discussed ethnical interaction between the Han immigrants and other ethnics in the immigrant region.
