Through studying carefully the different periods of the poetic creation of Cheng Jingrong, this paper makes a round analysis about the spiritual core that exists in her poetry, and attempts to approach to the furthest the unique charming poetic life and the spiritual world of this female poet who belongs to Nine-leaves school by analyzing her special way in combining the techniques of Chinese and western poetic creation. The content can be divided into three parts:The first part tries to outline the several important periods during the process of the poet's creation and the different spiritual nature and the artistic style that represented during each period, by tracing diachronically the changes of in the style of Cheng Jingrong. The poems of her early times have a deep intent of monologue and a style of modern school. And in the late 1940s, after five years' reclusive life on the Northwestern plateau, she has acquired great knowledge and turned her attention from inner heart to outer world, therefore harmonized individual feeling and time spirit, and accomplished the change of her poetic style and all these together established her status in modern literature history. However, the creations during the period after the institutional revolution are the products of time and wisdom, which are still full of lofty belief in life, but have a more distinct intellectual nature. As a poet, she contributes to the steady improvement of the life of poetry by her honesty thinking and unremitting research on poetic art.The second part emphasizes on studying the inflection of her unique spiritual world to her poetic creation and the profound impact of her creating poems to her courage in overcoming the tribulation of life. The tribulation came from inner and outer world enable her to consider life and poetry from a special perspective, and she has justified poetry as well as life by poetic creation through her all life. This part mainly explains her philosophy of life and poetry from the few aspects below: trying to find aesthetic comfort in the world of poetry by self-examination, self-denial and self-struggle, and then making self-surpass hardly; to fight against the stress of tribulation by a spirit of selfless contribution and the eternal fresh thirsty to anything beautiful, and anneal herself in the tribulation as to maintain liberty in her personality, and finally achieve "self-accomplishment and substantial humanity " which she has been pursuing all her life.The third part mainly analyzes the combination of Chinese and western poetic art of cheng jingrong from four aspects. On the one hand, influenced by classical poetry, she is adept to catch images and from which create pretty artistic conceptions and always pays attention to the harmony of words and the naturalness of syllables. On the other hand, she has also absorbed the soul of the modern school of 1930s, and has succeeded the tradition of modernism, that is, paying highly attention to social life. She has learnt the art of expressing emotion, emphasizing on feeling, hinting and symbolizing, and has also succeeded the thinking way of Lilck, namely, observing the world silently, which makes her poetry present a new appearance that different from Chinese classics, new poetry tradition and western modernism but combine all the three. Viewed from the whole, there are succeeding elements as well as improvement and development. In addition, as a fruitful translator, her art of translating has affected a lot of modern poets greatly.
