As an intercultural communication study, this paper takes the relations and communication between China and the West as its subject, with the purpose of facilitating mutual understandings between the east and the west. But its efforts are not made to discover and reduce lexical or ideological differences between the two to improve communicative efficiency. Rather, it studies China's intercultural media discourse, from which China's strategies and aims in communicating with the west are identified and demonstrated.Discovering the limits of universally acknowledged political and ideological oriented view towards China's intercultural media, this paper adopts a comprehensive, holistic, dialectal and dynamic view of analysis, deduced from Chinese philosopher ZhangDainian's comprehensive innovative approach. Under the guidance of this approach, I conclude an equilibrium perspective of China's intercultural communication, that is-----drawing lesson from its modern history, with the nation's uprising international position and promising economic development, adapting to the mainstream of globalization and multi-polarization, China is seeking for power balance, or equilibrium of the world. For application of this theoretical basis, the paper conducts an empirical study on Chinese media discourse on the issue of Sino-US trade disputes in 2005. The data was collected from China Daily and China Radio International. The analysis of data shows the feasibility of equilibrium perspective, and demonstrates China's efforts in contributing to a harmonious and balanced world.
