Study On Words On Military In ShuoWenJieZi

Basing on semantic meaning, this author roundly studies the words in ShuoWenJieZi and choose the words on military, then classes and commentates those words. From this work, the paper shows us the characteristics of the words on military, and the culture information in those words. The thesis consists of four parts:Firstly, the foreword. In this part, we confirm the studies object. ShuoWenJieZi is the first book systematically analyzing and exploring the forms of the Chinese characters. At the same time, it is also a dictionary of monosyllable words, reflecting the basic feature of the vocabulary in the Qin and Han Dynasty. Words on military are these words denoting the military activity.Secondly, classes the words on military in ShuoWenJieZi. In this part, the author classes the words on military in ShuoWenJieZi into the military sacrificial offering; the military law; the military symbol; the flags; the weapons; the military actions; the military establishment and the positions in troops; the military music and the military musical instrument; the city guards and the camps; Some words about military are not sure which one they are, we show them under "others".Thirdly, features of the words on military in ShuoWenJieZi. The features: there is class system in large kind of words; there are so many congener words which can discriminate imperceptible differences; the most of the words are monosyllabic, only a few complex tone words; some words reflect the influence of the dialect to the common language in ancient times.Fourthly, the culture information of the words on military in ShuoWenJieZi. Those words reflect the military culture information in ancient times, the developmental course of ancient productivity, and the ancient etiquette system.
