The doctrine of the mean is the important contents of the Confucianism theory, some scholars thinks it as the core of the Confucianism culture and the Chinese tradition culture. But the doctrine of the mean suffered much misunderstanding. To comprehend the real content of the doctrine of the mean ,we should return to Confucius and Zisi.The former initiates the doctrine of the mean, the latter develops the doctrine of the meant. We can read the doctrine of the meant from the view of philosophy and ethics. This text is divided into totally three pareses to investigate the doctrine of the mean ethics thought of Confucius and Zisi from the ethical angle.The first part: To trace back the origin of the doctrine of the mean thought. The doctrine of the mean thought comes from the point of"keep in" which from Yao,Shun,Yu and Xia,Shang,Zhou their dynasty.The second part: To analyses the doctrine of the mean character thought of the Confucius after clarification several of misunderstandings about the doctrine of the mean thought. The Confucius comprehends the doctrine of the mean from the angle of the virtue. Mean,Kernel and Norm contact mutually, and launch in the whole construct of Confucius value system.The third part: To analyse the doctrine of Zisi' the mean. According to the inherit of Confucius, Zisi explain the doctrine of the mean by "moderate" the doctrine, which value highly the norm meaning of the mean.The Confucius and Zisi comprehend the doctrine of the mean differently. For reality, the virtue and norm contact mutually, and continuously to attain unification concretely, we can't treat them partiality.
