Study Of ZiSi

With the publication of the bamboo slips of Guodian and Shanghai Museum, our historical fields put forward 'go out suspecting ancient ear '. And with these historical materials, ZiSi, the key figure of Benevolence's mid-genealogy, and his thoughts are being studied in a new way. We believe that Mr QianMu got a wrong conclusion about ZiSi's dates of birth and death, and we believe the records about ZiSi in Historical Records are correct. ZiSi probably once studied with the help of ZenZi, ZiYou or ZiXia, but his thoughts didn't come from them. With the proof in Analects and Confucius's Discussion about Poem, we believe ZiSi's thoughts came from Confucius's later thoughts. The problem that how to define the contents of ZiSiZi, is also disputed in historical fields. According to the 'the Double Proof Method' advocated by Mr WangGouWei, we think, before the publication the all bamboo slips in Shanghai Museum, Zhongyong, Ziyi, Wuxing and Lumugong asking for ZiSi can be decided bringing into ZiSiZi, we also use these materials to discuss ZiSi's thoughts. We believe ZiSi inherited Confucius's the theory of human nature and political thoughts, and he put forward a new theory of human nature which contained 'sentiment' and 'nature', the thoughts about ruling power in generalist way, and the thoughts about the relationship between the emperors and officials in relativism way. He also tried to advocate the independent character and critical spirit. MengZi inherited ZiSi's critical spirit and other thoughts, and asserted his new thoughts about the theory of human nature and so on. From Confucius, ZiSi to MengZi, in three hundreds years or so, the benevolence of Pre-Qing Period has passed the process of negative negation. Because of the difference of their historical condition, their thoughts also has distinctive difference. In short, ZiSi's thoughts has the duality tendency and the distinctive transitional tendency, and his thoughts can be regarded inheriting the past and ushering in the future.
