The Scientific View And Philosophical View Of Logical Positivism

Formed in the 1920s, the logical positivism is the main sect of analytic philosophy. Its core is the "Vienna School" which was created by Moritz Schlick and represented by Rudolf Carnap. Its ideological roots and the process from its formation, development to the final decline are introduced in this paper.Scientific view of logical positivism is a strong positivism scientific view, which makes an out-and-out positivism understanding not only on the structure and infrastructure of scientific theory, but also on the method, target and development mode of science. Moreover, the logical positivism has pushed Scientism to a new stage. So it has become the most notable scientific thinking in philosophy field since the 20^th century. The positive factors and limitations of its scientific view are also discussed in this thesis.Rejecting Metaphysics is the tradition of modern positivism. As a new positivism, logical positivism succeeds to the tradition and thinks of the Metaphysical issue as a language issue, not a fact issue for the first time, and significance standards and proven principles as its theory and methodology to reject Metaphysics. In addition, logical positivism insists that philosophy is not a knowledge system but an activity system. So it does not research for the understanding of the world, but analyze the language logically. In this article, the positive factors and limitations of philosophical view of logical positivism are discussed in terms of philosophical nature, philosophical object and philosophical research method.The relationship between science and philosophy is summarized in this article, and the reasonableness of the view is affirmed that philosophy should have a scientific nature, philosophy should be in the mode of natural science and the study of science and philosophy should be valued.The relationship between science and philosophy is elaborated from the ancient, pre-modern, modern to the late modern: at first science was contained in philosophy, later, it was polarized, when science develops to a certain stage, the interinfiltration trend especially the more closely link and overall trend of them was developed, the development trend of relationship between science and philosophy is philosophical science and scientific philosophy, finally achieve a higher level of integration.
