Shanghai Intellectuals In Xinjiang During Anti-Japanese War

Shanghai intellectuals came to Xinjiang during the Anti-Japanese hinterland and promoted the development of the cultural cause of border area. This part narrates Shanghai intellectuals' different destiny after Sheng Shicai changed direction to reactionary, some escaped from the dangenous situation or were repatriated to inland and some were thrown into jail even heroically sacrificed. This part thoroughly analyzes Shanghai intellectuals' cultual activities' function and influence in Xinjiang. The conclusion summarizes Shanghai intellectuals' contribution in Xinjiang and their function on the cultual cause in the "New Culture Movement" as well as their enlightment on pushing cultual communication between Xinjiang and inland.Although Shanghai intellectuals stayed in Xinjiang for a short time, they conducted all kinds of cultual activities which accelerated the development of Xinjiang cultual cause and the prosperity of the "New Culture Movement", thus the study on Shanghai intellectuals' activities in Xinjiang during the Anti-Japanese War has the important academic value and practical significance.
