Tales of Moonlight and Rain that Ueda Akinari writes is a reading-book in Edo Period. This novel is influenced by a lot of factors. It is influenced by not only conditions on that time but also Ueda Akinari's childhood unique experience .It is influenced by not only studying Chinese ancient novels after learning from Tuga Teisyo but also traditional culture in Japan.There are nine works in Tales of Moonlight and Rain, and Ming Dynasty's novels influence three of them writing amativeness between humans and female ghosts love stories. The House Amid the Thicket and The tale of Aiqing have the same basic plots: husband doesn't go home; his wife wait for him; at last, husband is back home and see his wife's soul. The Caldron of Kibitsu and The Tale of Peony Lamp have basic plots well: the revenge of female ghost. The Lust of the White Serpent and White Snake Permanently Kept under Leifeng Tower also have the same basic plots: beauty snake's image in china and Japan. The decrease influences of Ming Dynasty's novels are the proneness when Ueda Akinari writes Tales of Moonlight and Rain. The novel of so such the change of the characteristic of Shotaro, is for the sake of the work subject- good faith and revenge.
