The Study Of The Poetesses' Writing Psychology In Tang Dynasty

"Female world"is an endless topic in every espect, especially in the academic circles.There are a lot of studies which concentrate their discussion on female group .However, most of these put their focus on the female characters which are described in the literatural works,they seldom discuss the works which are created written by female writers.Because of women's marginal statues in the feudal society and literatural development, and the relative information is in a state of shortage, the research in the field of women's literature becomes correspondingly weak.Tang Dynasty is the golden period for poetry composition in our country. Numbers of man poets were brilliant on poetry in Tang Dynasty because they composed many works that have won universal praise. Those poets and their works, on which there have appeared tremendous amount of materials for research, have been catching people's eyes ever since. However, the poetesses and their works have always been ignored. Many poetesses appeared in Tang Dynasty under the influence of politics, religions and ethnics of that time. Based on their distinctive experiences, a series of good works reflecting the characteristics of the women of the time were created. Their creation originated from their pursuit for love, for the equal social status with the men, and for freedom in spirit. They expressed their pursuits bravely and frankly. Particularly, the Taoist poetesses were courageous to break through the bondage set by the feudal ethical code and write their true feelings and thoughts. Influenced also by politics, ethnics, etc., their pursuits always ended in failure though. Facing the frustrations, they would have taken vast bravery to expose the truth, denounce the darkness, and relieve their bitterness rather than have indulged themselves in continuous distress and grief. Cries for pursuing and rebelling can be heard mostly through their poems. It is a pity that their works are doomed, by their identiy as poetesses, to be neglected, as a result of which, however, we can not fully understand and grasp the whole style and features of the poems in Tang Dynasty, let alone the women's dismal position in the feudal history. As women, we should know and introduce the feminine literature and take it as an entrance to exploring the ancient women's mind and discovering their unique writing psychology. The paper applies the relative theories on literary psychology, women's studies and history to conduct a thorough and deep study on poetesses in Tang Dynasty from the perspective of writing psychology. The paper consists of three parts, endeavoring to present fully the writing psychology of poetesses in Tang Dynasty.The first part of the paper puts the focus on the formation of the poetesses'writing psychology in Tang Dynasty.And this part analyzes the main foctors which influence this formation from three aspects that are the political conditions, the religious believes and the moral principles.And then we draw the conclusion that means the general characteristics of the poetesses'writing psychology in Tang Dynasty.Their literatures originate form the reality; they grasp the characteristics of their times closely;they sttugle against the traditional fate of women by their own works.The second part discusses the manifesto of the poetesses'writing psychology in Tang Dynasty.This part is based upon their poems and emphasizes four points as follows:Seize the spirit of the age and persue the heroic poetic style;Display the feminine consciousness and complain the gerder inequality;Focus on spiritual homeland and glorify Taoism and nature;Linger at the edge of their emotional world and express their loneliness.The third part explores the contribution of the poetesses in the feminine literary history.Through the comparison between the femine works of former and latter periods,it summerizes the special glamour---their free, bold and unrestrained writing style.This thesis tries to do the complete and deep research of the poetesses in Tang Dynasty form the angle of writing psychology . It expects to cast a brick to attract jade and to make people pay more attention to the feminine literature, especially those ancient feminine literature which has been buried in oblivion.
