The Study Of The Poetesses’ Feminine Consciousness In Tang Dynasty

Tang Dynasty is a very important period in Chinese ancient literature, and it is also the boom and prosperity of poetry writing. In that period, men’s poetic creation was flourished, at the same time, by the Influence of the economic development, religious thought, and many other factors, a large number of poetesses have emerged in tang dynasty. These poetesses, with their unique way of emotional experience and aesthetic, created a group of poems with female style and the characteristics of that age.These poetesses’ poems in Tang are much different from the ones in the "book of songs" which are primitiveness and the ones in the Han Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties which are very weak and lack the spirit of independence. The poetry theme and emotional expression reveal the unique feminine consciousness and spiritual experience in Tang Dynasty, and the writing of these poems make the era of female creation development and progress to be realized.This paper is on the basis of the poetess’writing in Tang Dynasty,by the mean of analysis the compositions and compare these poems with the former dynasty’s literatures, try to find out the feminine consciousness which is contained in the female writing of Tang Dynasty, and analysis the breakthrough and limitations of the feminine consciousness. The paper mainly divides into three parts:The first part of this paper analyze the social background of feminine consciousness in Tang Dynasty about how this kind of consciousness awakening and emerging. The growth of economical development and the open thinking promote the social status of females in Tang, and realize the freedom of thought in a certain extent, at the same time, it also promote the writing by poetess become prosperous and wake up the feminine consciousness in Tang Dynasty. In the second part, the paper analysis the feminine consciousness of poetess’writing in Tang Dynasty in detail. This part is divided into three parts:First of all is the aggressiveness of the feminine consciousness in poetess’ writing. This is manifested in the intense consciousness of aggressive and the pursuit of desire. It is including the attention to current affairs and politics, the desire to show one’s talent, as well as the pursuit of the sincere love and independent marriage. In second is the breakthrough of the feminine consciousness in poetess’writing. The main performance is that poetess are brave in reacting against the suppress and bullying which is always come from the society, trying their hard to grasp and create their own life when they suffering from the injustice and torture. And the other performance is the new development and breakthrough in the awareness of the thought especially the feminine consciousness, in compare with the poetic creation by the poetess in former dynasty. In third is the feminine consciousness which is expressed in the poem that imitated to men’s. The main performance is many poetess’ writing are full of masculinity, from the planning of the poem’s structure to the word style. This is contentious but this kind of imitation is an expression that poetess in Tang Dynasty trying to show their ability and gain the identity from the society. And this is also the reflection of feminine consciousness that the poetess are striving to throughout the limit of sexuality and improving their selves. The third part of this paper analysis the limitation feminine consciousness in Tang Dynasty. Although the feminine consciousness and the independent spirit of poetesses’works in Tang Dynasty have emerged, in fact, these full of entreneurial spirit and resistance consciousness production are accounted for a very small proportion in feminine poetry. Most of these women are still live in the bound which is builded by the moral principles and social convention. They are still repeat the fixed life of traditional woman.The epilogue brief analysis and compare the different and discrepancy with poetesses’creation in Tang Dynasty and Han Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties. The poetesses in Tang can still not get away from the hedge and constraint in feudal society. In spite of the feminine consciousness was wake up and have got a great expression, as long as the patriarchy system and social morality’s oppress are still exist, the women’s real feminine consciousness’complete showing out would never come true.
