The period of High Tang is an important one in Chinese phonetic history. It is an important method to handle the phase changes of Chinese phonetic history by studying these verses thoroughly and deeply. Now the scholars mostly concentrate their attention on the rhyming of poems in High Tang, and the study of verses is very rare. Therefore, We choose the verses in High Tang as the studying subject by which we aim to inspect the mandrrin system and phonetic changes, in order to provide some clues and materials for the study of Chinese history.The whole paper can be divided into four major parts as follows:Chapter1: preface. This chapter includes a brief introduction to the studying to the studying subject of rhyme in poems about verses in High Tang. A simple amount of the research situation on the study of the rhyme in pomes and verses, the purpose significance and the methods of this paper;the definition of studying edition.Chapter 2: The explanation to the relative problem about the rhyming of verses in High Tang. This chapter includes the introduction to the definite method of scholars in High Tang, the places where they born and died, and their works which had rhymes, the relative explanation to the extracts of rhyming characters and rhyming examples.Chapter 3: the Rhyming System of Verses in High Tang Dynasty. In this chapter, by a thorough relation and conclusion of scholars'1465 pieces verses and 5352 rhyming sections, 27 rhyming categories in High-Tang verses can be classified. Among them, there are 8 categories of Yin Sheng rhyme, 10 categories of Yang Sheng rhyme and 9 categories of Ru Sheng rhyme. There are more special phenomena in the rhyming of verses in High Tang, which includes interchangeable rhymes among different rhyming categories and different tones. We analyze the phonetic basis from two angles about synchronic linguistics and diachronic linguistics. Among interchangeable rhymes in different rhyming categories, some are rhymes in order to imitate the ancient, some reflect the dialect, some reveal the sign of combination about the rhyming categories in the later. There are some phenomena about weakness and drop of Yang Sheng rhyming word that ends a line of verse and Ru Sheng rhyming word that ends a line of verse. The phenomana of the interchangeable rhymes among different tones mainly refers to the interchangeable pivotal rhymes of the falling-rising tone and the phenomena of Zhuo Shang Bian Qu had existed in High Tang.There are some special rhyming characters in High-Tang. Mainly according to their pronunciation in Guang Rhyme, Ji Rhyme and the specific rhymed situation in verse, We determine their pronunciation and try to seek the possibly phonetic value. The characters including Fan, Na, Ya, Ya, Sa, Xia, Mang, Qie, Yu, Fou, Tui, Yi, Zhi, Xie, Neng, Men, Huan, Zan, Man, Shan, Suo.Chapter 4: Conclusion. Through the comprehensive analysis to the rhyming of verses in High Tang, we consider that the rhyming system of High-Tang verses reflects the actual phonetics of High Tang, and the period of High Tang playes a pivotal role in phonetic changes of the whole Tang. The phonetics that the rhyming of High-Tang verses reflect can be divided three levels: Elegant word, common language and dialect. The phonetic changes which are included in High-Tang verses are indispensable in the chain of Chinese phonetic history.
