From the characteristics of linguistic morphology, Vietnamese and Chinese belong to the same type of language------Isolating Language. But from the classification of family tree, they come under the different language families. Vietnamese is being a member of South-Asia Language Family and Chinese a part of Sino-Tibetan Language Family. Accordingly these two languages share some general characters on the one hand and possess their respective individualities on the other hand. Since Vietnam innovation and opening to the world, especially in the past ten years, the students in both countries have had more chances to learn language of the other side. In their learning, they have trouble distinguishing the differences of the two languages thus easily making mistakes among which the interrogative in both Vietnamese and Chinese is one of the hard nuts for the learners to crack. This paper therefore attempts to make a further study of this subject with a view to helping the students better understand and use the interrogative in Vietnamese and Chinese to express themselves.By applying the theory and methods of the contrastive linguistic and by drawing from the achievements of expects and scholars in this subject and from my own experience of language learning, the paper makes a detailed contrastive analysis of the structure and function of the interrogative in both Vietnamese and Chinese.
