In some degree, education of Chinese painting is the basic orientation of development of Chinese painting, while which is the symbol of Chinese culture, so the matter of Chinese painting's education is not only a matter of education of fine arts, but also a matter of construction and development of Chinese culture. On this matter, many artists and educators work out their own blue prints about the development of education from different point of view. Among them, as a great Chinese painting master and outstanding fine arts educator, Pan Tianshou, on the precondition of protecting national characteristics of Chinese painting, in order to promote the combination of Chinese traditional painting and modern education system, discovered the problems from the interior of Chinese painting consciously, havd a constructive exploration, and put forward his own project of solution. It is the idea of his insisting on developing Chinese painting on the basis of traditional nation culture that makes modern education system of Chinese painting takes on national characteristics, and propose a new way of thinking for the sustainable development of modern education of Chinese painting.Pan Tianshou's education thoughts of fine arts developed with vitalizing national arts as center, with personality's education as backbone, with culture of knowledge as support, with developing modern art by borrowing the classical art for reference as method, with innovative spirit as motivation, and with carrying and development of national culture and art as contents. The essence of spirit is structuring and revitalization of nation spirit. Under the direction of the education thoughts mentioned above, Pan Tianshou structured a group of Figure, Landscape, Flowers and Birds, which is classified respectively, and blends poem, handwriting, painting and seal in one with line drawing and double-line drawing as basic sculpting training, which is based on the education system of traditional brush and ink character. This article, by means of comparison, analysis, integration, and inducing, combining traditional Chinese culture, foreign culture with modern education thoughts and practice on fine arts as the three factors, researches his education thoughts of fine arts and education system of Chinese painting completely and thoroughly from synchronic and diachronic angle to further know about the value and significance of Pan Tianshou' education thoughts on fine arts in the education system of modern Chinese painting.Nowadays, under the situation of globalization and diversity of culture, the matter of how to preserve the uniqueness of Chinese culture in the course of development of human's civilization is the important issue faced always during the construction of Chinese culture. Pan Tianshou's education thoughts of developing Chinese painting on the basis of traditional culture, not only show us the important value and function of traditional culture at the transition of Chinese society, but also provide us with successful experience of exploring, borrowing and making good use of traditional culture.In addition, modern Chinese education of fine arts unduly emphasize the cultivation of commonness, but neglect the particularity of art, faced with the situation, Pan Tianshou's education thoughts and teaching practice which emphasized uniqueness of national art from the angle of diversity and difference, provide reference for Chinese education of fine arts to strengthen construction from the angle of protecting national characteristics.
