Wei Zhuang, suzerain of the Huajian Ci field, is a famous poet in late TangDynasty. However descendants often stresse his Ci rather than his poems. This paperdiscusses the poet's double identities: a scholar of "Qin Fu chants" and "father ofHuajian Ci". Creative phychology is also involved. .It tends to focus on the commoncharacteristics existing in his poems and Ci. He has blazed a trail in Ci history, intergrating poems' characteristics and will-expressing functions in Ci. Wang Guoweisummaries his Ci as "the oriole-like language on string", while we consider it as "theplain surface congealing fragrant snow". His poems and Ci, actually, have alreadyenjoyed a popularity. But due to historical and personal reasons, he is known as a man ofCi rather than a man of poems, which, to some extents, influences our objective judgmenton him. The fact is that he is prolific in the creation of poems, whose material range, cultural connotation, cognition value and cultural value all surpass those of his Ci.Therefore, when we stress his contribution to Ci field, we should also name the value ofhis poems.
