By means of the mutual arrangement of initial consonant, vowel and tone, Thyme diagrams display their pronunciation system clearly. The earliest sound study work calls the intonation by the four tones of"Ping","Shang","Qu","Ru".However, the pronunciation has been evuluting as time changes, and the circle of studying tends to different discrimination in the four tones. This article adopts the method of the historical comparison. Through the analysis which evolves to the modern Chinese intonation, the author Longitudinally divides the intonation evolution into three times, the change of intonation in Tang-Song dynasty, the change of intonation in Yuan dynasty and the change of intonation in Qing dynasty. Crosswise divides the intonation evolution into three aspects,"Ping fen Yin Yang","Zhuo Shang gui Qu"and"Ru Pai San Sheng". Selects nine representative rhyme diagrams which manifests Chinese common languain from each stage. Has carried on crosswise and longitudinal comparison to"Deng hu"evolution in each stage. Combs the rule which the intonation evolves. Compared with the development and change of intonation in rhyme books and rhyme diagrams of each stage. Combs the evolution advancement of each intonation and reflects the pronunciation appearance at that time. Simultaneously, through carrieing on the analysis and discussion of exception to the rule, manifests entire process which"Ping fen Yin Yang","Zhuo Shang gui Qu"and"Ru Pai San Sheng"evolve.
