From Rural Area To Urban District

This dissertation analyzed the economy of Fengqiao and the change of the society lengthways, finding out the inside motive in the process of Fengqiao' s urbanization, adopting the historical and develops-economic theories and method. In the meantime, the dissertation used the theories of modernization and sociology to analyze present urbanization of Fengqiao and Suzhou with characteristic analysis and worth judgment. The modernization of Fengqiao town is a miniature of Chinese modernization, a miniature of all developing countries' modernization, a kind of development mode which compress a biscuit type. Market direction and government administration predominate two kinds of strength each have at that time, pushing Fengqiao from tradition to modern. The urbanization of Fengqiao turned a historical and cultural ancient town to a place with sacrificed agriculture,sacrificed rural scenery and no rich land of thousand years as a price of urbanization.
