New historicism is one of the important schools of literary criticism in 20th century. It came into being in the 1980s, when European literati focused on the study of the Renaissance. New historicism objects to the traditional view of history, and it differs from the new method of criticism that formalism criticized. It influenced many countries rapidly after its birth and took on differences in different countries. So it is with the acceptance and development of New historicism in China. New historicism, which formed acceptable pattern of multi-structures, achieved the great practical meanings as a critical theory in many aspects and it is the most typical one. The New historic criticism with its powerful theoretical advantages being accepted in China developed fully and strengthened further as a new way to see the history. This essay tries to analyze and explain in three paragraphs about the acceptance of New historicism in China and it also emphasizes development and transaction of Chinese new historic novel. What's more, it made a summary about the theoretical advantages of New historicism. Concretely Speaking, the first part mainly states the whole acceptance of New historicism in China, emphasizing the new tendency and new characteristics of New historicism. The second part, body of the essay, analyzes the manifestation about New historicism in China. The last part focuses on the excavation about the theoretical advantages of New historicism and its great meanings, making self–examination about how to accept and use New historicism for the Chinese literary and art circles.
