Objective: To value the effectiveness of Rational Emotive Therapy for enhancing self-concept of depressive patients, providing guidance for clinical practice.Methods: 60 inpatients meeting DSM-â…£criteria were randomly assigned, 30each, to experimental group receiving medication plus Rational Emotive Therapy, and control group receiving single medication .TSCS, CRS, HRSD were administered before and after 12 weeks in both groups.Results:1.The total scores in HRSD were decreased significantly in both of groups, but the ratio of decrease more significant in experimental group than that in control group(p<0.01).2. At the end of 12th week, each sub-score of TSCS were significantly increased ,except that of self-criticize which was decreased more significantly in experimental group than that in control group(p<0.01).The total score of TSCS was significantly increased(p<0.05), but less significant in control group(p<0.01).Conclusions: 1.The efficacy of integral intervention for depressive patients was higher than that of signal medication therapy. 2. Rational Emotive Therapy can enhance self-concept in patients with depression, accordingly releasing the symptom of the depression.
