There is a narrow strip of water between China and Japan. The intercommunion of historical culture between the two countries is of long standing. Discussing the two countries'characteristics on lingual culture has important significance. Many academicians have devoted on the comparison research on Chinese and Japanese language. From different visual angle and cut-in point, they have explored the similarities and differences of the two languages from different aspects. With regard to the field of idiom-adage, there are both many great achievements and regrets. One after another, academicians research on homologous idiom-adages or generally compare Chinese and Japanese idiom-adages. There are few academicians making analysis of heterogenous idiom-adages so that it is also a vacant research domain.Comparing Chinese and Japanese idiom-adages from homologous and heterogenous aspects can make us understand completely. Firstly, making comparison research on homologous idiom-adages can know that the borrowed idiom-adages will appear distortion and alteration because of the local country's culture, history and geography. This explains the cultural mentality differences between the two countries'people. Secondly, heterogenous idiom-adages can reflect local cultural and mental characteristics which can not be affected by foreign culture because they are native-born. The similarities of heterogenous idiom-adages between the two languages can help us know that the two nations have similarities in cultural mentality. The two countries'idiom-adages both have concretion and pay attention to emotional description. But Chinese language is good at summarizing, having more precise logical structure. While Japanese language presents much of obliquity and illegibility because of its agglutinative structure and that there are differences between inside and outside of Japanese people. Although it differs in thousands ways between Chinese language– continental culture and Japanese language– insular culture, there are also many coincidences. This can be reflected clearly by the study on idiom-adages.
