With the implementation of China's opening-up policy and the deepening of the international communication, translation is playing a more and more significant role. As an important device to push forward communication activities, it greatly promotes the exchange between different nations in aspects of politics, culture and economy. At present, China has millions of people involved in translation activities, however, unfortunately, most of them are adopting a special kind of language called "Chinglish", which cannot be understood or accepted by English natives. Even worse, the intended meaning is wrongly interpreted. Therefore it severely influences the communication effect.Chinglish, with the characteristic of half English and half Chinese, but neither English nor Chinese, is jokingly called by Joan Pinkham "a language with Chinese characteristics". Such a kind of language can be found in every part of our life, in street posters, in newspapers, magazines and in government documentation. The Chinglish, which frequently appears in Chinese to English translation, is one of the major problems that influence the publicity effect. In the thesis, the writer at first looks back on the history of Chinglish and makes comparison with another important language phenomenon "China English". Afterwards, the writer lists the features of Chinglish and illustrates them one by one. Then the writer analyzes the causes of Chinglish. It is as a result of the differences in cultures, thinking patterns and linguistic structures. In the conclusion part, the writer brings out the scientific and feasible solutions to the problems. Proper employment of the solutions can help the translators to the largest extent avoid Chinglish and achieve the expected effect.
