The contrast between the Chinese logical thought and the western one has been on its way since the western logic came into China. At the same time, those concerned started to contest whether China has its own logic or not; if there were, whether or not it was same as the formal logic of the west. The contrastive study with the company of the contention has made its own reply about the series of argument: the two tendencies of the contrastive study between the Chinese logical thought and the western one "find-identity" and "find-difference". The "find-identity" thought that the Chinese logic was the western formal logic. However, the "find-difference" regarded that the Chinese logic could not be equal to the western formal logic. A part from the two tendencies mentioned above, there was still another proposition that there was no logic in ancient China and that the absence of the formal logic exactly meant the vacuum of logic. After probing into the three different propositions, the author thinks that the ultimate reason of difference is that the involved three parties hold two different systems of logical idea. Therefore, the author attempts to disperse the contentions from the aspect of the differences of logical idea, and further make a contrast about the differences of Chinese and western logical thought. The outcome will be significant to help people understand and estimate the Chinese logical thought in a proper way and help them grasp the research objects and the development patterns of the science of logic. This paper puts its efforts on making an analysis about the different forming and developing processes between the Chinese and the western logical thought from the aspect of diverse logic idea. Furthermore, it borrows some research achievements from predecessors, uses such research methods as cultural, historical and contrastive analysis. The paper lays special emphasis on using cultural analysis when it discusses the background of the two kinds of logical thought's formation. The Age prior to Qin Dynasty in Chinese history was polar in its natural and geographical environment to that in the Age of Ancient Greece, and hence gave birth to different mode of social organization from its counterpart, which lays a material foundation for evolving to different logical idea. Meanwhile, the philosophical thought in the Age prior to Qin Dynasty attached more importance to the realistic request of ethics and politics, thought high of the perceptual practice and experiences. While, the Chinese language put emphasis on the ideographical instead of on its linguistic structure. All those paved traditionally the cultural way for China to develop its logical idea of entirety in latter period. In contrast, the western analytical logical idea stemmed from such a philosophical thinking pattern which focused on the Greek ontology, rational analysis, the function of a language, the strict grammatical rule and the complete grammatical structure instead of on perceptual experiences. Accordingly, the regional differences existing between the Chinese and western natural environment, modes of social organization, philosophical thought makes that China gives birth to a synthetical logical idea and the west an analytical one. For this reason, the Chinese and the western logical thought which center on the research of thinking patterns and rules display different characteristics. For the same reason, China and the west have developed their logical thought along two different ways. The development of the Chinese logical thought has been growing increasing hard and tough and declined in the end. While, the western one has been observed from generation to generation and developed vigorously; at present, it has many branches. Based on the historical research to the development of the Chinese and western logical thought the author holds that the Chinese logical idea must undergo a thorough change to set up its syntheticity at the basis of analyticity so that it can become a "modern synthetical logical idea" which is more scientific and comprehensive. Only in this way, can the Chinese logical thought obtain its vitality as vigorous as the western one.
