Du Zhaozhi is a famous composer and an educator of music in China. After graduated from the composition department of central conservatory of music, he voluntarily gave up a good chance to work in central institute of music in Beijing and went to the pastoral areas. At Inner Mongolia composer not only studied so much folk-music of Mongolian, but also grasp the language of the people. The unique musical language and profound spiritual connotation gave a strong impression on composer. Beside the task of composition, he also worked for Inner Mongolia University, Inner Mongolia Normal University and Inner Mongolia Industrial University as a teacher of music. Snowstorm·Distance·motherland is an outstanding symphonic poem finished in 2000 when Mr. Du lived in pastoral areas. Based on the prototype of WoBaXi, the work is a combination of Mongolian folk-music and Chinese history. There don't have any research achievements on the composition.There are three chapters in the paper: The first chapter is about the life and composition of Du ZhaoZhi; the social environment and cultural background which have a great influence on the composition of Du ZhaoZhi. We can also find out the composer's opinion toward world and life. The second chapter talks about the progress of composing. It concludes the history of WoBaXi's rebellion, the course of composing and the connotation of composer which is based on the history. The third chapter is about the analysis of the composition. From musical structure, melody, harmony and rhythm, we can have an overall impression on the way of composing. The last chapter discusses the connotation of Snowstorm·Distance·Motherland, and makes a conclusion on the characteristics of style and the tendency of esthetics.
