Today it is a long distance between the quality of the students of higher normal education and the requirements of primary school education. One obvious weakness of these students is their lack of practical teaching skills. Take the students of the Normal School of Huangshi Institute of Technology for example. Many of them are barely able to prepare their English teaching plans or to organize their class activities. The normal school in China has usually emphasized the training of the students' language ability, but to a great extent, has neglected the development of the students' pedagogical skills. As a result, many graduates of the English normal education find it hard to adapt themselves to the needs of their teaching job.CBVE is aimed at the training of practical ability to cater for the needs of businesses. Its conception of education accords with the goal of English normal education. In order to cope with the aftermentioned problem existing in the present higher normal English education, the present author proposes a new model for the course of English pedagogy based on the educational mode of CBVE in the hope of helping students of higher normal English education to develop their practical teaching skills.The second chapter of this thesis summarizes the historcial development, the theoretical bases and gives a survey of its study and application both at home and abroad.Chapter Three analyzes the differences between the traditonal teaching model and the CBVE model. Then in Chapter Four, the present author proposes a new model for the course of English pedagogy based on the educational mode of CBVE. To test the validity of hypothesis that the new model may help students of English normal education to better develop their teaching skills, the present auther carried out an experiment among students of the Normal School of Huangshi Institute of Technology. The subjects of the experiment were randomly put into two groups. A pre-test was given to both groups and the results showed that both groups were at the same level in their teaching skills. Then the new model for English Pedagogy was carried out in the experimental group while the old way in the control group. The experiment lasted one term. The data collected in the middle and after the experiment showed that the experiment group had a significantly faster progress than the control group in the development of their practical teaching skills, proving that the CBVE based model for the course of English pedagogy is effective in helping students of English normal education to develop their pedagogical skills.
