Being a famous essay writer, Ms. Yang Jiang has created literary works about the evolution of a typical generation and her psychological progress as an intellectual. With a chronological coverage of seventy years, Ms. Yang Jiang's essays have been well known for a style of freshness and elegance mixed with bitterness and tolerance respectively. Imbued with rich ideological contents and valuable literary techniques, her essays have made a great contribution to the developing Chinese modern and current essay writing through correcting and encouraging and become a quite distinct and excellent"This One".As a life-toaster, Ms. Yang has lived a dynamic life. She has received a baptizing from Sino-Western culture; on the other hand, her temporary life fire has kept that century-long history and fifty odd years nostalgic memory alive. Ms. Yang has"toasted"many rare excellent essays through borrowing warmth from her own life fire. Containing uncommonly valuable historical description of a"learner"and unique literary values, these essays eagerly demand an immediate research. Based on a systematic explanation of both Ms.Yang's philosophical logics and her works, this paper aims to find out hidden factors which have made her essays famous and eternally charming within different times. This paper follows the following outline:Chapter one: family background and literary environment--- Sino-Western cultural details. Ms. Yang Jiang has received a lot of advantages including influence from respectable ancestors, good family enlightenment and formal Sino-Western education, which have become rich resources for her literary creation. Ms. Yang has gradually obtained a free and"leisurely"writing style on her way of breathing in fresh air of opening and democracy and mastering an open-mind with the help of being active and hardworking. Living in a symphonized environment of strict family doctrines, free spirits and free exchange of Chinese-Western culture, Ms. Yang Jiang has enjoyed freedom of life in her superficially"leisurely"style and touched life tempos within this freedom, a fact which breasts her life and encourages her literary creation with an eternal power.Chapter two: individual case and typical generation---a hard traveling through history. Ms. Yang Jiang's life bridged two centuries and witnessed the ups and downs of our nation, a challengeable swimming in the life river. Thus, her works have been both a description of personal life and a recording of that century. She has kept historical snaps of life of that generation existing for ever for later generations with her pen, including her personal life. During her swimming in the rough historical floods, Ms. Yang Jiang succeeded in becoming a"fire keeper"as a successor to a former"on-looker"while keeping breathing with her head up and down; she maintained her passion in being involved and kept alert to calmness and soberness in this process. Reading her essays, one can often find a pair of amiable eyes shining blurrily and a beautiful heart keeping praying for light and happiness for the whole world.Chapter three: returning and recalling---remaining warmth after withering of superficial splendor. Regarding"recalling"as a useful expressive means of finding the essence of life, Ms. Yang Jiang has kept life shuttling as a film and hoped to keep her readers and relatives as her partners for ever in that eternal space. In her personal pilgrimage for a spiritual home, Ms. Yang Jiang has always been recalling pleasantly with weeping tears in her eyes while still keeping smiling. Grasping a torch of memory and nostalgia, she maintained a happy mood in her melancholy and lonely returning journey. In this journey, her recalling torch was oiled by her life's last warmth instead of young powerful heats; however, this torch warms Ms. Yang Jiang's tender but persistent retreating life.
