The Research On Shiwei Of Han Dynasty

Due to the shortage of documents and records, Shi Wei doesn`t get general attention of the academic circles for a long time.However, as an important part of the research about Shi Jing which was created in Han dynasty, the exploration of Shi Wei has great effect on the process of the research about Shi Jing, as well as on the understanding of the historical and cultural background of Han dynasty. On the basis of foregone research by others, this paper will conduct a relatively systematic and comprehensive research of Shi Wei on the levels of literature and JingXue(经学).The main body of the paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter mainly carries on the basic research on Shi Wei.After a careful collation of the editings of Shi Wei by the scholars in the period of Yuan,Ming and Qing, I will confirm the document basis of the paper and presume the basic contents and the situation of researches. This paper will initially explore the origin and development of Shi Wei, maintain that as other of Han dynasty Shi Wei stemed from the attachment to"Jing"and appeared in the period of Xi Han when the empire was under the control of Emperor Ai and Emperor Ping. This paper will also study the spreading of Shi Wei according to the records of bibliography in all the past dynasties which are about Shi Wei. At the meantime, combine with the original meanings of"Chen","Wei","Jing"and the records of the different meanings of"Chen"and"Wei"in the documents of Han dynasty, as well as the study on the relation of JingXue(经学),WeiXue(纬学) in Han dynasty, we will find that in Han dynasty"Ji"and"Wei"aren`t"the same thing of different names", whereas"Ji"and"Wei"are closely related and WeiXue(纬学) is one of the important parts of JingXue(经学) in Han dynasty.The second chapter carries on the comparison Shi Wei with the four schools of poem in Han dynasty from macroscopic general. Shi Wei and the four schools of poem in Han dynasty came into being in the same historical background but belong to different academic fields. As a result, they are of common points but also of more differences. There will be four angles from which Shi Wei will be compared with the four schools of poem and they are the different experience of authority and folk,the diversity of the understanding about the content of Shi, the diversity of the understanding about the form of Shi and the emphasis on the inheritance of the study about poem in Previous Qin period. By these comparisons, the distinguishing features of Shi Wei which are different with the four schools of poem will be stressed to prove that Shi Wei is an independent branch of Shi Jing hermeneutics in Han dynasty, as well as an impotant part of the study about Shi in that period.The third chapter microscopically discusses the relations of Shi Wei and Qi Shi .There is a common view presently that Shi Wei come from Qi Shi. Once the characteristics of Qi Shi are discussed, the documents of Shi Wei are used as proof. At the basis of a careful exploration to the study of Qi Shi in Han dynasty and the documents of Shi Wei, we can find Qi Shi by Yi Feng is an unique branch of Qi Shi and some theories which explain Shi with the concept of the five elements had been different from traditional Qi Shi. And then Shi Wei is the development of Qi Shi by Yi Feng and goes so further on the road of theology that almost falls into the boundary of unknowable theory,which has get out the scope of Qi Shi`s study. So Shi Wei and Qi Shi is not the same thing and it need to be thought over about using Shi Wei to discuss Qi Shi.The fourth chapter elaborates Shi Wei poetics theory and has an influence on the later generation poetics theory. This chapter set out from the theories of literature and poem to discuss the contribution of the theories provided by Shi Wei to the theories of Han dynasty."Poem is the heart of heaven and earth"in Shi Wei identified the nature of poem in the height of world view. And"Poem is the support"provided a new view to the function of poem in Han dynasty. Which also had a great effect on the development of the study about poem after Wei and Jin dynasty. Furthermore, Shi Wei also discussed the relation of poem with politics and music, as well as the relation of poem and motions. All of these are beneficial supplement to the theories of poem in Han dynasty.
