"Czech" changes in these three periods which inflect experiences of Kundera and shifts of his visual system. First chapter discusses Czech which created by Kundera. He observed Czech internally. Not only in The Joke, but also in Life Is Elsewhere, Kundera showed his reflection and criticism by characters' action. In Chapter II, because of Kundera's emigration and vivid ways of writing, Laughter and Forgetting is quite different from The Unbearable Lightness of Being. In these two novels, males tried to save female refugee, but they failed, which reflects conflict in visual system. The last chapter mainly talks about "Czech's" silence. As the political changes happened in Czech Republic, Kundera met new challenge. He used La Lenteur and Ignorance to answer this question."Czech" is not only a background, but also the image of the character's deep mind. Hundreds of year's history made great influence on Czech.
