In the atmosphere of shouting "Anti=Modernism", many new designing theories sprang out successively. The reason was either to improve the modernism, or to fulfill the monotonous designing style. Such in architectural design, linguistics was imported, which had made great improvement of the expression and profound influences in the field of design.In product design, for the economic system has been drifting from manufacturer-oriented to consumer-oriented, the consumption of Industrial Product has changed from the functional satisfaction to the psychological needs of the figure's imagery. In the other side, with the development of material science and electronic technique after 80es, the shape of new-old things is getting lighter and smaller. That has not only caused the new-old things needing new appearances, but also the needs of "recognition" and "facial expression".After the study of architectural design, product design has also imported Semantics, which has developed into Product Semantics. However, the study of Product Semantics is still standing on the "text or context" storey, only to achieve the symbolic expression but further inside to the narrative storey. In the case of which the core of Semantics is how to tell the story, narratology can expend the context of Product Semantics in certain facet. Therefore, Narrative Design comes out..With the basic theory of Product Semantics, Narrative Design manages to make products express themselves more variously and more completely from the storey of Cultural Symbol. It is based on "the function of expression", adding the description of the story, which make the product satisfy not only "the function of usage" but also "the function of expression". A product is needed not only to express its mechanical function but also to transmit something "meaningful", which as literary works, in order to touch and persuade the consumers.With the insight of the command of market and the status and the trend of product designing, based on the research of the Narratology and Cultural Semiotic theory, this paper is trying to build up the narrative thinking mode of Industrial Design with the help of the current achievement on Narrative Design.The detail studying works as follows:Try to prove the value of using narrative design;Get fully familiar with the background theories of Narrative Design, including linguistic science and the inheritance of Product Semantics;Comprehend the relationship between Narrative Design and Cultural Semiotic theory;With the help of Cultural Semiotic theory, writer try to establish the tailor-made method for certain Industrial Products;Use the new method to demonstrate certain successful projects;With the guiding of the new method, writer has managed to design a trial product.Conclusion and achievement:With the deep insight of Narrative Design, this paper has built up the narrative way of designing method for certain industrial products, which has strengthened the specialty and explained the narrative function of the products successfully, and found out the principles and the direction at the same time.With the help of new-built method, writer has tried to practice a trial product designing. In the end, it has made a certain succeed fortunately so as to prove the practicability of the new-built method.
