Chinese is developing all over the world now , every year, the number ofVietnamese people studying and using Chinese is inc reasing. No doubt that we haveto enhance the quality of teaching Chinese at universities. One of the improvements isthe directed purpose of teaching which is necessary for both teaching and learningprocesses. Phonetics is a basic shell of linguistics, a nd a methodology to express idea,describe ideas and opinions. Therefore, phonetics is very important in foreignlanguage teaching. But in fact, after a certain studying time only few people canspeak Chinese fluently. Phonetic becomes a big obstacle. Thus, the key issue is howto design a good (well- directed) teaching curriculum. I think that the mother tonguelanguage has a negative effect on the efficient of the curriculum . Two years atForeign Language University and 4 years studying in China has helpe d me to gainexperience in this field. My thesis presents some systematic problems coveringChinese phonetics of Vietnamese students. This thesis also proposes a efficient andsuitable solutions for these problems. I have found that Vietnamese students ha veparticular phonetic problems in learning Chinese. These problems have a specificallysystematic feature. Thus, the purpose of this essay is to point out mistakes made byVietnamese students learning Chinese and to find out methods of teachingVietnamese students phonetics in an efficient way. First of all this essay is coveringthe differences between Chinese and Vietnamese phonetics . Through research andstatistics, mistakes which Vietnamese students often made are defined in a detailedand systematic way. Then they are classified to find out specific rules of each kind ofmistakes. Finally, a proper teaching method is suggested to limit these mistakes.
