The complement"å¾—"is a popular term in modern Chinese which has a complex formation. This kind of complement does not exist in many other languages including Vietnamese. Therefore, the use of the complement has caused several difficulties to language learners and thus it is an important grammar point in the teaching of Chinese. Many Vietnamese students often omit the word''å¾—"in their sentences or use this word inappropriately. In this research paper, the subjects of this study are Vietnamese students who study Chinese as a foreign language. In this paper, the information is collected from the questionnaire, analyzed to find out possible reasons and common errors of Vietnamese students when studying this complement in the Chinese language. From this, some suggestions are made in the teaching and learning of this grammar point to help the learners improve the effectiveness in their learning process.The thesis includes 4 chaptersChapter 1, Introduction. This chapter provided the reason, meaning in choosing the topic, theory for the study, then also provided the study method, and finally summarized the reference sourcesChapter 2. Introduction notion, structure of The complement"å¾—"in modern Chinese. The thesis also stated the scope of this study. At the end of this chapter, we compared the way to express The complement"å¾—"of Chinese in Vietnamese, with the aim to find out if there is the same structure"å¾—"in Vietnamese.Chapter 3. Introduction the origins in general of the examples used in the thesis; subjects and methods to survey, then counted and analyzed the survey results. Basing on the result, we found out the mistakes, then analyzed the mistakes, and finally pointed out the reason of why making the mistakes.Chapter 4. Basing on the characteristics, and the reasons of making mistakes from Chapter 3, we made some suggestions for teaching and studying Chinese effectively, especially The complement"å¾—".Hopefully our suggestion may help teachers and learners of Chinese.
