The Study Of The History Of China's English Education In The Situation Of English Internationalization

The spread and the education of English in the international context is a research hotspot. As the British external expansion, in order to carry out the colonial rule better, Britain vigorously promoted colonial education in its colonies. One of the most important contents is the colonial education of the language and cultures. After the two World Wars, the influence of the United States and that of its companies in the world make the English language a truly a global language. Because of its strong influence, states in the world must vigorously promote English education. In such a context, China also began the spread and the education of English. After the Two Opium Wars, China slowly became a semi -colonial and semi-feudal society country, and lost part of its national sovereignty. As part of the colonial education, English education entered China. At the same time, some people of insight also recognized the importance that we learn the advanced science and technology from Western countries. As the primary tool to achieve that goal, the importance of language education is never to be neglected.The development of English education in our country has experienced three major stages: English education in the late Qing Dynasty, English education in the Republic of China and English education in new China. Various periods of development have their own characteristics. In the late Qing Dynasty, English education gradually changed a consciously act from an unconsciously act. In time of the Republic of China, the state is in turmoil, but the English education has a very good renewal. After the new China was founded, because of the international environment and political factors, English education was once almost interrupted, but after the time of reform and opening, English education has been developing vigorously. In the 21st century, with the nation's development and prosperity, English education is facing to the new development and should be reformed imperatively. Under this background, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the development of English education from the international spread of English and their impact on English education in China, and the history of the development of English education in China, meanwhile points out the main problems and solutions to China's English education.
