In the third century, the power of Rome begun to rise in the Mediterranean region. In less than 200 years after that, it swept through the Mediterranean region, which lay a solid material foundation for the establishment of the Rome Empire. The Roman didn't have the concept of the logistics system before the first Punic War. During its postwar period, Rome went across the strait and entered Sicily, Sardinia and etc. In order to maintain the military capability, Rome was required to establish the logistics system. The thesis focuses on the establishment of the logistics system during its expansion in the Mediterranean and analyzes the characteristics of its organization and economy as well.Many factors should be taken into consideration for the reconstruction of the logistics system. Firstly, form the military consumption in Rome, we can conclude that the material is in great demand for a war. The thesis analyzes the various possibilities and economic effect of the logistics system from this aspect; Secondly, in order to relieve the pressure of transportation and guarantee the military supply, a multi-level supply system should be established accordingly. Thirdly, the government seduced the civilians to provide the long-term military service and thus improved the efficiency in military troops. As a result, through the analysis of material supplies, transportation and etc, the thesis reveals the characteristics of the Roman army's logistics system, which was during the middle and late period of the Republic of Rome.During its expansion, Rome gradually established its own logistics system which catered to the requirements of the war. In addition, Rome transferred the burden of its cost and selected the appropriate means of the military supply. By using various favorable factors, Rome maximized the use of its territories. By means of selecting the soldiers from the civilians ,Rome used its limited resources to improve the effects of the battles. The economic and effective logistics system created a military miracle during its conquest.
