On Moral Belief Crisis And Re-establishment

People's ideas and concepts will change at any period of social transformation. Along with the abundant material wealth and people's spiritual lives'diversify after the economic reform, the moral values'agitation is very impressive. Moral life is the human being's special way of life and unique in it's content, living in an ethical society is the unique existence of people, it has been transformed into one's conscience and become subjective. The transformation of social economy and politics will inevitably lead to the formation of new moral values, and will bring about contradictions and sharp conflict between the original moral values and the new moral values . Therefore, the moral belief crisis in today's society is an indisputable fact.Because moral is the people's ideals inherently and the spirit of self-discipline, so the truly ethical principles and norms should exists in the form of belief and faith. Moral beliefs are not the moralize of religion, or religion come from moral, but the worship and admiration of moral theories , and the combination of ration and emotion.This paper summarizes the research on moral beliefs, emphasizes the importance of moral belief and it's significance. Based on the current domestic scholars'analysis and judgments of the concept of moral belief , moral belief is people's faith and reverence toward moral theories and moral regulations ,based on their understanding of moral and human's values and moral ideals, and moral sentiment with which to put their goals of life into moral actions. Based on these, the paper analyses the difference between moral beliefs and religious beliefs, moral beliefs and moral ideas. The paper discusses the essence of the moral beliefs from four aspects: beyond, practical, free will and rational public. And this paper discusses the function of moral beliefs in improving the social members'moral realm, shaping moral character, and ensuring moral's validity, effectiveness and cohesion of spirits.The paper analyses the condition and causes of contemporary moral beliefs'deletion. For the current phenomenon of moral crisis, I think that this is not due to the absence of applicable ethical standards. The reason is people don't fulfill their moral obligation although they have a certain amount of moral knowledge. To construct a harmonious society is the re-structuring and re-establishment of the social members'community ideals, values, and moral beliefs. A harmonious society requires various elements to be in a relationship of interdependence, mutual coordination and promotion of the state ,it is the pursuit of goodness. Moral beliefs play important roles in building a harmonious society. Building a harmonious society can not be separated from the establishment of moral beliefs of the community members. Moral beliefs not only have lasting, stable characteristics, and are both personal beliefs and common ideals, moral beliefs play important roles in the establishment of common values of the social members and the formation of the harmonious society, and they're the essential elements of the social members'harmonious relationships.
