Heng Qie Wu Sheng Tu was written in the midwinter of GuiMao,the 23th year when emperor DaoGuang was on the throne,in other words,it was in the November of A.D.1843,by Chong FengWei,a man with no history but who said he came from Changbai mountain. The writer insisted that it included all the countrywide sounds. The rhythmic graphs also show us a very intricate phonetic system. On the one hand, there are involute relations successionally in Initials, finals and tones between the book and Su Wen Yin Yi Bian Kao Si Bian,Yun Fa Heng Tu,Yun Fa Zhi Tu,PingShui Yun,Qie Yun Sheng Yuan,Yin Wun Chan Wei and LiShi Yin Jian.On the other hand, the normative ideas between it and other synchronous rhythmic dictionaries or graphs are almost just the same.So it deserves our probing in the extreme. The thesis presents a comparatively systematic study on Heng Qie Wu Sheng Tu,comparing it with the correlative rhythmic dictionaries or graphs, the synchronous sound and dialects from the two angles, diachronic and synchronous,to find its phonetic system under the whole direction of the historical and comparative argument and looking-through and separating method, and then try to recognize what the sound elements is,what phonetic system it represents and its station in the history of phonetics. The whole thesis is composed of five chapters.
