In this thesis, I discussed the relationship between Prophecies and some culture factors. This Prophecy could give us an interesting angle of view to understand the spiritual idiosyncrasy of the Chunqiu Period. It also played a important role in the history books in that time.In chapter 1, I discussed the times background of the Prophecies in Zuozhuan. The Chunqiu was a notable reform period. In that time, both the magic and rationalistic activities prevail in such a period. Chunqiu became a prophetic times when people are so confident and impulsive to make prophecies, therefore we could see such a large number of prophecies in Zuozhuan.In chapter 2, I discussed the relationship between the prophecies and the Liyue civilization. The Zhou Dynasty is a representative of Liyue civilization, poetry, history, ceremony and music were advocated and exceed magic in status. The words and deeds were regulated by the Liyue culture, and became evidence to predict the good or ill luck of a person or a nation.In chapter 3, I discussed the relationship between the prophecies and the Culture of Official Historians. The official historians originated form necromancers, hence, they had natural interest in prediction and record them in the history book. They didn't believe all the predictions, but they wanted to use all of them to build a moralized conception of history.In chapter 4, I discussed the relationship between the prophecies and the writing of history books.
