Ancient Persian Barbat, one of lute family, is a four strings and four guts musical instrument. It spreads and develops westward and eastward into two different forms, one is European lute and guitar, the other is Chinese Pipa and Japanese Biwa, both of which share the same deep origin with Barbat. Moreover, in the process of communication with different culture, the pitch mode of barbat has been developing different types.This paper eyes on the pitch of lute family, to analyze and do a comparative study on various pitch interfaces and modes in the process of changing, aiming to discover the accumulation of pitch information, the optimization of the structure of pitch, furthermore, to find out and interpret the culture behind the pitch mode and to discuss the taxonomy of lute family from various perspectives.This paper is to interpret the cultural, physiological, and psychological factors that contribute to the change of pitch mode through literature and field work, analyzing and inducing, and through organizing various sources of literature, such as photograph, notation, and also sources from network, furthermore, to find out new possibility of the research of organology. |
