In 21 century, with the frequent exange of cross—culture communication in the fields of politics, economy, civilization and art among the countries in the world, multiculturalism ideology has been recognized by more and more countries. Also it gradually goes into many fields in man's life, such as culture, philosophy and economy, etc. Education is one of the important fields. Multicultural education has become the trend of education development in the current world. Music education which based on the multicultural education theory has appeared in many universities, middle schools and primary schools in the world. And it has becoming an important content of music education in the current world.This essay is trying to start with the music teaching's general outline and the standard of curriculum from the 90's in 20 centuries, analyzing the course of music curriculum's reform and the background of standard of music curriculum between China and America and comparing the differences and sameness of the concept of multicultural music education between music teaching's outline and standard of curriculum of China and America from breadthwise and lengthways, which is in the same time and different time. And this essay studies the differences of the concept of multicultural music education ,the source of education's reform and the differences of the politics, economy, culture, so as to provide some consultation and reference for multicultural music education system in our country.This essay includes three chapters:Chapter 1: IntroductionThis chapter discusses the background of multicultural music education, research's actuality and looks back the multicultural music education in the middle and primary schools of China and America.Chapter 2: Main BodyThis part has 4 chapters. The first chapter explains the concept, including curriculum ,the standard of curriculum, culture, multiculture, multicultural music education and so on. The second chapter discusses the course of music curriculum in middle and primary schools of China and America. The third chapter analyses the course of music curriculum's reform and the background of standard of music curriculum between China and America and comparing the differences and sameness of the concept of multicultural music education between music teaching's outline and standard of curriculum of China and America from breadthwise and lengthways, which is in the same time and different times. The fourth chapter discusses music education's actuality, problems and how to resolve the problems.Chapter 3: ConclusionThis chapter summarizes the whole content, stress on emphases and vales.
