Water transport is the primary way in goods transmission of Chinese past dynasties in history. The capital of the South Song Dynasty is Lin An. Its location is well. It sits on the crossing of Jiang Nan Canal, Zhe Dong Canal and Qian Jiang River and traffic is very convenient. Jiang Nan Canal is very importance to the transport wealth of the South Song Dynasty in Jiang Huai areas, orders freely flowing and prosperous of Jiang Nan Canal's cites. Zhe Dong Canal also is a main channel getting the tax and going abroad of the South Song Dynasty. So the two canals are lifeline of the South Song Dynasty. And the South Song Dynasty pays great attention on the trade of oversea because this trade brings much of revenue to the government and promotes the development of the South Song Dynasty's sea transport.By analyzing the historical geographical documents, investigation and employing historical geographical theories, the paper discusses the management of Lin An Canal, Jiang Nan Canal and Zhe Dong Canal and development of water transport of grain and sea transport in the South Song Dynasty. The researching indicates following, during the 150 years of the South Song Dynasty, the domain is stable because southern prosperous economy and the water transport is the hinge of the physical base working.
