Research On Dummy Verb In Modern Chinese

There is a special kind of verbs in the modern Chinese, which frequently plus the verbs or the verb phrases as the objects behind them. They do not have the solid significance, so we call them"the dummy verbs". On foundation of the discussion about names and scopes of this kind of verb, this article is divided into the following four parts to carry on the discussion to them.The first part discusses grammatical features of the dummy verbs, and makes contrastive analysis on internal characteristics and differences of the dummy verbs; The second part carries on the discussion from the angle of the verb objects after the dummy verbs, and separately discusses verb objects'nature, syllable, constitution way and different semantic characteristic and so on; The third part mainly summarized the sentence type which the dummy verbs may constitute, as well as the transformation condition between the dummy verb sentences and non-dummy verb sentences; The last part discusses and summarizes the function of dummy verbs from two angles ---forming sentences and language usage.
